Job Description:
- Perform installation, removal and maintenance of all metering equipment and systems, including troubleshooting, meter installation verification and accuracy analysis.
- Interrogate and program meters, as well as troubleshoot communication issues and develop communication solutions for both mesh and point-to-point network connections.
- Investigate complex power quality issues and development of PQ reports and corrective actions.
- Maintain applicable documents, records and comprehensive reports as required.
- Complete regular cross-phase testing and auditing.
- Troubleshoot problems with metering systems, AMI Network communication, modem/communication equipment and telephone lines as required.
- Communicate effectively and in a professional manner (in-person and electronic) with internal and external stakeholders including customers, contractors, members of the public
- Experience with communication systems.
- Ensure safe work procedures are followed at all times.
- Maintain client communications, safety and work documentation.
- Ensure reporting requirements of federal, provincial and local regulations are met.
- Understanding of EUSA Safety Rules, Occupational Health & Safety Act, ESA Ontario Reg. 22/04, Utility Work Protection Code and all other applicable legislation.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to troubleshoot electrical circuits with the aid of drawings, prints, and analytics.
- Positive, proactive and high energy level, comfortable performing all activities within a power system in conjunction with day-to-day activities
- Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Detail oriented.
- Physically fit, able to lift various types and weights of equipment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Completed or working towards Journey person Meter Technician Certification or equivalent
- Background in electrical power distribution, metering, protection and control or electrical systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively complete tasks
- Strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external clients
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team
- A valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License, driver’s insurance and an excellent driving record
