About the role
The Jr. Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining housing units and buildings in Windsor, Ontario on behalf of York Property Management.
Main duties include assisting the Maintenance Technicians as required, attending to maintenance issues and subsequently completing repairs as required. Strong communication and time management skills are required.
The Jr. Maintenance Technician works in collaboration with the Maintenance Technician and Manager, Resident Experience and ultimately reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities
Maintain housing units to ensure the suites are safe and in pristine condition.
Main activities
- Assist the Maintenance Technician with minor repairs as required (minor electrical, plumbing and water systems, and carpentry)
- Clear and dispose of any debris on assigned properties daily
- Strictly adhere to all health and safety requirements
- Ensure parking lot is monitored and maintained for safety
- Ensure overall cleanliness of property
- Ensure regular garbage removal and recycling pick up occurs; take garbage bins in and out on pick up day
- Complete sidewalk and entrance salting and shoveling
- Repairs to Repair and install flooring
- Repair damages to finishes
- Install and dispose of appliances including stoves, refrigerators and washing machines
- Complete work orders assigned daily
- Assist in cleaning/maintaining Grounds and common areas as required
- Work alongside the Maintenance Technician to develop maintenance skills
- Move materials as required
- Perform other related duties as required
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Experience with repairs in plumbing, electrical, ventilation and water systems
- Workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
- Experience in residential property management is an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Ability to use and/or learn how to use new technology for time tracking and work order purposes
