Job Description

Egis is seeking a results-oriented Project Manager to lead the delivery of the Apron Package for the landmark aviation Program in Toronto. This critical role involves managing the construction of new aircraft hardstands and the reconfiguration of existing apron areas, all within a complex, live airport environment.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the apron works, ensuring the package is delivered to scope, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with the project's rigorous safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The role will operate within the project's collaborative Progressive Design-Build (PDB) framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the apron construction team, including subcontractors and suppliers, to ensure successful and timely delivery of all works.

  • Oversee all construction and inspection activities for the apron package, from site mobilization through to commissioning and handover.

  • Provide expert guidance on the constructability of design, construction planning, and execution of large-scale civil works, particularly for aircraft-rated pavements.

  • Actively manage, monitor, and report on the status of construction progress and schedule, implementing corrective actions as required.

  • Ensure all works comply with technical specifications, Canadian aerodrome standards, and all health and safety regulations.

  • Manage stakeholder relationships, particularly with airline and airport operations teams, to coordinate construction activities and minimize operational disruption.

  • Support the design management team during the design phase to confirm suitability for procurement and construction.

  • Coordinate with safety, quality, and inspection teams to ensure adherence to all management plans.

Qualifications

  • A recognized degree in Civil Engineering or a related construction field.

  • A minimum of 15 years of professional experience managing the construction of large-scale civil infrastructure projects, with a specific focus on airport aprons, hardstands, or taxiways.

  • Demonstrable experience working on-site in highly regulated, live operational environments, preferably at a major international airport.

  • Strong technical capability in all phases of civil construction, with expert knowledge of pavement design, materials, and standard practices, particularly for airport environments.

  • Familiarity working in collaborative project environments and a working knowledge of progressive contracting models like Progressive Design-Build.

  • A PMP designation is highly desirable; a P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) license to practice in the Province of Ontario is considered a strong asset.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with a proven ability to facilitate meetings and coordinate with multiple operational groups.

  • Demonstrable experience in leading complex construction delivery strategies and execution plans in an operating airport environment.
