Reporting to the Food Safety Champion, the Quality Assurance Coordinator (Audit Programs) will be responsible for conducting various types of internal audits and inspections as set out in the Internal Audit Program and investigating and responding to complaints and non-conformances to support the continuous improvement of product safety, quality and legality.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Initiates and performs internal audits and assessments that aid the development, enhancement, maintenance and enforcement of the MLF Food Safety, Quality Management and Animal Welfare programs for Maple Lodge Farms Brampton plant.
  • Communicates internal audit findings to the required individuals and/or team members and follows up on corrective action required.
  • Follows up on all internal audit findings and ensures timely closure.
  • Investigate and respond to all customer, consumer and CFIA complaints, as well as internal non[1]conformances
  • Through various means of communication, ensures that all departments maintain conformance to the written food safety, quality and animal welfare program standards including regulatory, legal, quality, food safety, and customer requirements (e.g. reporting of non-conformities, employee follow-up, root cause investigation, etc.). Ensures that corrective and preventative actions are taken when departments / individual employees do not conform with the safety and quality management programs.
  • Presents relative findings at monthly Management Review meetings.
  • Works with Plant Management and QA team on projects that will improve existing production processes. This includes the planning, organizing and executing on assigned projects as well as providing analysis and an overall report of the project.
  • Attends and assists in providing necessary documentation when third party audits occur.
  • Policies, Processes & Procedures a. Adhere/comply with company policies and procedures. b. Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner

What You Will Bring

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working in quality assurance and/or research and development in the food manufacturing industry (preferably in meat and a unionized environment);
  • Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.
  • Team-player with excellent leadership skills, able to motivate others, negotiate effectively, and interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ability to work / excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
  • General computer skills (e.g. MS Office / Inventory Management systems). Education and Certification Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in related field required.
