The Opportunity
The Transit and Parking Strategy Department strives to provide customer focused, efficient, reliable and affordable public transportation and parking services that link people, workplaces and the community and promotes economic development within the City of Barrie.
Under the general guidance and direction of the Supervisor of Compliance and Customer Service, the Senior Transit Client Services Representative position is responsible for assisting their Supervisor in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Transit Terminal Customer Service Desk. This position acts as a first point of contact at the Transit Terminal and performs various customer service duties relating to Barrie Transit, including welcoming customers and visitors, providing direction and information, acts as a point of sale agent for all conventional and inter-city transit fare and parking media, responds to or redirects inquiries or questions regarding transit services, including escalated and more complex questions/complaints, and is knowledgeable about City-wide programs and services. Overall, this position plays an integral role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the transit terminal customer service desk and in the delivery of consistent, timely, and efficient customer service to internal and external customers of the City's Transit Terminal in order to meet or exceed customer expectations.

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
- Two (2) year College Diploma in Office Administration, Business or related discipline
- Completion of Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certifications Upon Hire
- Completion of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification within 90 Days

Experience
- Four (4) years of cumulative part-time experience or two (2) years of full-time experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities in a transit and/or customer service work environment
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Demonstrated Ability to:

- maintain a high standard of public relations at all times; perform in a manner which is consistent with corporate goals, vision, mission, and values; deal with difficult customers and resolve customer issues in a diplomatic and professional manner; develop, promote, and maintain effective collaborative liaison with City employees at all levels and the general public and other stakeholders; operate a cash system, balance cash and prepare daily deposits; teach and instruct others, identifying training needs of others and train and present information using the appropriate medium
- Intermediate skills include: Administrative; Attention to Detail; Coaching; Customer Service; Interpersonal; Judgement; Prioritization; Problem Solving; Teamwork; Training; Verbal Communication; Written Communication
- Intermediate computer literacy using the following systems and software: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word), Transit Trip Planner Tools; Phone Systems; and the Internet.

Other Important Information
Location: 20 Essa Road, Barrie, Ontario
Hours: The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
Wage: This position is within the CUPE Local 2380 Bargaining Unit with the following pay level and 2025 pay range:
- Pay Level: Level 5
- Yearly Salary: $58,949.80 to $70,597.80
- Hourly Pay Rate: $32.39 to $38.79
