Position Summary We are looking for an experienced payroll specialist to be responsible for all payroll-related tasks. In this role, your responsibilities will include collecting and reviewing employee information, calculating wages, preparing and processing employee payments, and maintaining accurate payroll records. The role will also require investigating and resolving payroll issues while adhering to compliance with company and regulatory standards. An outstanding payroll specialist should also have excellent people skills and a high numerical aptitude.
What You’ll Do
- Processing semi-monthly payroll for US and Canadian employees
- Assembling reports of company earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability payments, and non-taxable wages
- Preparing year-end employee tax slips or forms, and submitting government filings to meet deadlines
- Maintaining confidential information by adhering to legal and ethical standards
- Working with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure benefits and payroll services are delivered
- Monitoring and analyzing expenses against the payroll budget to help prepare cost forecasts and budgets
- Ensuring databases are set up and reflect the current employee base, including salaries, hourly wages, benefits, and pension percentages
- Staying current with tax laws and other regulations to ensure compliance
What You Bring
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in business
- Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required
- Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws
- Good understanding of the common fiscal procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications
- Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
- Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Physically able to work seated in front of a computer for long hours at a time
- Canadian Payroll Association - Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ direct Canadian, US & Global Payroll
- Knowledge of Workday is a must.
- Strong sense of responsibility, and ability to meet regular deadlines.
How We Work This role requires two in-office days per week, with three days in-office during the three-month orientation period. Fully remote work is not available for this position.
