Position Overview:
As a Heavy-Duty Parts Technician, your primary responsibility is to support the service department by accurately identifying, locating, and supplying parts for vehicle repairs and maintenance. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of heavy-duty truck parts and inventory management processes. This position is based at our Abbotsford BC branch.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately identify and locate parts for repairs and maintenance, placing orders as needed.
- Receive and verify incoming parts shipments, maintaining organized inventory storage.
- Assist customers with parts inquiries, providing information on availability, pricing, and ordering processes in person and on the phone.
- Process parts sales transactions accurately, including invoicing and payment collection.
- Develop a strong understanding of heavy-duty truck components to effectively identify parts.
- Coordinate closely with service advisors, technicians, and other dealership personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of parts transactions and inventory levels, tracking usage trends and informing purchasing decisions.
- Follow the inventory and merchandising processes while maintaining the retail display.
- Implement workflow procedures and continuous improvement initiatives for the department.
- Computer use to process parts and supplies, maintain records, prepare orders, post receipts, sales contracts, stock adjustments and credit requests.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid class 5 License with clean abstract.
- Previous experience in a related role within the heavy-duty truck industry is required.
- Some shipper/receiver experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts and components, with the ability to accurately identify and cross-reference part numbers.
- Proficiency in computer systems and software applications used for parts ordering, inventory management, and sales transactions.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and track inventory levels effectively.
- Dealership or equivalent experience is an asset.
- Customer service-oriented attitude, with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing inventory needs, industry developments, and dealership procedures.
