About the role
Altex Industries is a fabrication, engineering and service company that specialize in providing heat transfer equipment and service for the oil and gas industry. We are currently looking for a full-time, Specialty Welder. Some of the responsibilities and requirements include:
· Welding Stainless Steel and Inconel TIG welding tube to tube sheet welding with 1/8" projection
· Welding tubes inside header boxes for air coolers
· Weld using electric and gas-powered arc welding processes and equipment
· Weld using MIG/TIG, gouging and Sub-Arc welding equipment
· Assist with the layout and fit-up of pressure vessels (shells, heads, internal and external attachments)
· Operate oxy-fuel and plasma torches
· Operate tools and equipment such as grinders, drills, and band saws
· Perform other duties as required
Requirements:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in Inconel TIG welding
· High School Diploma
· B Pressure Journeyman Welding Trade Certificate
· Read and Interpret fabrication drawings.
· The ability to work independently and collaboratively
· The ability to multi-task and strong attention to detail
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Introductory knowledge of Microsoft desktop and server applications
· The ability to multitask and set priorities
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to concentrate on detailed work
· Patience, eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity
SHIFT: Nights (Mon- Thu) – 4:30 pm – 3 a.m. (1/2 hour lunch)
*Must pass a weld test with Altex Shop Foreman prior to hiring.

All engineering, drafting, project management, procurement, and fabrication occurs at our main facility in Edmonton. We are Canadian owned, and support Canadian workers and operations.
Our primary focus is on Air-Cooled and Shell & Tube heat exchangers, including Helixchangers, Sulphur Condensers, Waste-Heat Boilers, and winterized (re-circulation) air-cooler bays.
We are experienced with most metallurgies - carbon steel, stainless & duplex, chrome-moly including 1-1/4 and 2-1/4, high-nickel alloys like 625, 825, C276, and weld-overlays.
