DUTIES
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Early Childhood Education (ECE) the Early Childhood Education Instructors will work with the ECE
Program Coordinator and other ECE instructors to deliver our Child Care Aide 40-hour courses, both in communities and to on-campus
students. The courses can be delivered using various distance methods with occasional face-to-face classes, as needed. This position may
also provide relief support for current instructors through occasional courses on-campus. This may involve some travel to Thompson of The
Pas. In addition to teaching duties, the instructors will be responsible for classroom management, student advising,
maintenance of student records and grades, curriculum review/development, liaison with childcare mentors and directors, and other
administrative tasks. The successful candidates will also be responsible for fully participating in all program functions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Manitoba Early Childhood Education level III designation by Province of Manitoba’s Early Learning and Childcare Qualifications
Branch
Three years’ experience working in a childcare facility (licensed, unlicensed, Head Start, etc.)
Experience coaching or mentoring Child Care Assistants (CCAs) or Early Childhood Educators (ECEs)
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and presentational skills
Excellent problem solving and leadership skills
Proficiency with relevant educational and MS Office technology/software
Ability to work independently and in a team-teaching situation
Demonstrated ability to understand and to deal with issues specific to Indigenous learners and mature students in northern Manitoba
Commitment to life-long learning
ASSETS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Early Childhood, Arts, Education, Social Work or Recreation)
Experience working in northern and/or Indigenous Manitoba communities
Ability to speak an Indigenous language
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Some travel is required
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry Check
Completion of Teaching for Learning (TFL) post-graduate certificate or equivalent Certificate in Adult Education
