Shift Start: 6:30, 7:00, 8:30, 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 15:00, 23:00 Hours are subject to change based on operational requirements.
This position may be scheduled at any of the following sites: Charlton Campus (Hamilton Downtown)

Position Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician uses knowledge of infection control principles and medical aseptic techniques to ensure the appropriate level of sterility of reusable medical devices and equipment entrusted to their care. They ensure clean, disinfected, properly assembled and sterile and/or high level disinfected reusable medical devices and equipment are readily available to the entire hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Applicant must meet one of the following 3 education options:

1 .Successful completion of a Certificate or Diploma in Sterile Supply/Medical Device Reprocessing through a recognized post-secondary educational institution
2 .Valid MDRAO and/or CSAO certificate plus a minimum of 900 hours of recent (within the past 5 years) medical device reprocessing experience
3.Valid CMDRT certification

  • Must be able to speak, write and read English
  • Recent MDR experience preferred
  • Basic data entry skills and familiarity with computerized tracking and ordering systems for material management
  • Basic skill level in MSExcel for looking up schedules and MSWord and Photoshop for updating instructions manuals
  • Familiarity with techniques, products and machinery used to safely decontaminate specialized instruments
  • Basic understanding and appreciation of principles of microbiology
  • Must be physically capable of lifting and/or pushing heavy loads, standing and walking for long periods of time
  • Applicants must have demonstrated ability to accept responsibilities, work with minimal supervision and show initiative
  • Good interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills required
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of Service, Responsible Stewardship, Community Responsiveness and Respect
  • Good work performance and attendance record is essential

WAGE RATE
Hourly: $28.87...$30.14...$31.37 (plus 14% in lieu)
