Job Summary

Job Summary Reporting to the Head of Licensing & Regulatory Compliance, Canada, the Regulatory Compliance Specialist ensures the organization remains compliant with Canada’s evolving insurance regulations. This role conducts regulatory assessments, oversees compliance testing, and manages external relationships with regulators and industry bodies. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, regulatory knowledge, and strategic adaptability to navigate complex compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Oversight & Compliance Management

  • Monitor and interpret new regulatory requirements, assessing their impact on business operations.
  • Respond to regulatory inquiries, conduct thorough research to ensure compliance alignment.
  • Lead regulatory complaint investigations, ensuring proper documentation and resolution.
  • Assess insurance policies, distribution guides, marketing materials, and digital assets for regulatory adherence.
  • Track completion of action plans shared with regulators, ensuring timely follow-up with stakeholders.
  • Perform compliance testing, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and workforce management reviews.

Strategic Regulatory Risk Management

  • Conduct risk assessments, identifying gaps and proposing solutions to ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Collaborate with licensing, legal, and compliance teams to implement proactive strategies for regulatory shifts.
  • Develop internal training programs, strengthening regulatory awareness across the organization.
  • Maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, ensuring open communication and collaboration.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree or diploma in business, law, or a related field, with 2+ years of experience in regulatory compliance within the insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Canada’s insurance regulations and evolving compliance expectations.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations, conduct impact assessments, and implement compliance strategies.
  • Experience managing regulatory inquiries, complaints, and compliance testing.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize regulatory changes into actionable business insights.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and compliance-related technology systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate regulatory concepts into clear guidance.
