Compensation: $28.67/ hour plus vacation pay; 2.5% in lieu of benefits & Health Care Spending Account upon completion of probation

Location: London ON

Schedule: 32-40 hrs/week; varied shifts including evenings, weekends and public holidays

Estimated length: 1 Year Contract

Summary of Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Working with adults with developmental disabilities, concurrent disorders and/or dual diagnoses in an assisted-living environment providing 24/7 support to develop daily living skills that support community integration/engagement
  • Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships and attend to the diverse needs of participants
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for participants requiring varying levels of behaviourial interventions; remain calm and focused in crisis situations while utilizing effective de-escalation and decision-making skills
  • Collaborate with team to implement care plans that support involvement in person-centred programs that promote educational, behavioural, developmental, psychological, and emotional growth
  • Work successfully with diverse groups and demonstrate commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice

Qualifications:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Human, Community, and/or Social Services (e.g. CYC, SSW, DSW)
  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience providing behaviour intervention support; knowledge of concurrent disorders and/or dual diagnoses and strategies for support
  • Reliable with a demonstrated commitment to being a dependable member of a team
  • Understanding of support requirements specific to the roles and responsibilities of the job
  • Proficiency in both verbal and written communication
  • Strong leadership, mentorship, advocacy, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, in addition to attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the team, and independently as necessary
  • Capacity to establish, implement, and maintain professional, and personal boundaries
  • Multilingualism and having diverse lived experiences are considered assets

Requirements:

  • Valid Class G (full) Driver’s License with a 3-year Uncertified Driver Record
  • Satisfactory current (within the last 6 months) Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Physical Health assessment: verification of up-to-date immunizations, negative TB Skin test (within the last 6 months), COVID vaccination status (2 doses), and ability to meet the physical and psychological requirements of the position
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR, Level C with AED training preferred
