We are currently seeking an Associate Library Technician to join our Library team.
Job Overview
To provide circulation services and a broad spectrum of front-line support.
Education and Experience
- Completion of a two-year Library Technician diploma from a publicly accredited post-secondary institution or combination of equivalent education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience using an integrated library system.
- Ability to use tact and discretion with a variety of people and situations and work in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated keyboarding skills, understanding of computer concepts and terminology, and experience with word processing software and file management systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of library classification systems.
- Ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision to establish priorities, achieve deadlines, problem solve and function well under pressure.
- Previous experience working in a public services environment.
- Ability to lift 30-50 pounds and move materials on carts.
Timings are:
Monday 3:45pm-9:15pm,
Wednesday 3:45pm-9:15pm,
Thursday 3:45pm-9:15pm: These shifts include a 30 minute unpaid meal period and two 15 minute paid rest periods.
Friday 3:45-7:15pm. This shift includes a 15 minute unpaid rest period.
There will be approximately a two week lay off December 2025 and another one in April 2026.
Final day of work is dependent on the exam schedule.
As per the KPU-BCGEU Collective Agreement, qualified internal applicants within the BCGEU bargaining unit are given first consideration in filling this position. Internal applicants must apply by 11:59pm on the internal closing date in order to be considered as an internal applicant. Internal applications received after the closing date will be considered as an external applicant.
Salary Information
Salary and wage increments are in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
