We are a highly regarded and leading law firm with a range of practice areas. We have secured numerous noteworthy results at both trial and appellate levels of court. We pride ourselves on exceptional client service in a friendly work environment. Our offices are close to the Vancouver Courts in downtown Vancouver, with advanced technology and support services. We have 17 lawyers and 12 paralegals who bill their time, in addition to 16 others on our team.
We are seeking a part-time Senior Accountant who has a relevant diploma or degree, or is near to completing one. The position is to replace someone who is retiring and is to commence early September 2025. Once trained, the position should require the equivalent of 2.5 workdays as we also have a bookkeeper and external chartered accountants. After 3 months, the hours may be worked partly in the office and partly in a home office.
The position is suitable for a well-organized, detail-oriented team player who has a positive attitude, is a good communicator, and is pro-active with tasks.
Priority will be given to candidates with 5+ years of Law Office and Trust accounting experience.
Qualifications:
· Exceptional knowledge of full accounting cycle
· Experience in legal accounting, including managing billing, accounts receivable/payable and disbursements
· Proficiency in MS Office, QBooks and Actionstep/Soluno accounting programs
· Solid knowledge of Trust accounting Rules and regulations
· Strong organizational skills: ability to multi-task, meet strict deadlines and prioritize
· Sound judgment, with discretion and confidentiality
· Ability to work independently and with little supervision
· Exceptional attention to detail
· Ability to adapt to client-based billing requirements
· Ability to adapt to changing demands
· Strong interpersonal skills with a self-starter attitude
· A positive attitude with willingness to learn and provide service
Primary responsibilities include:
· Full-cycle accounting
· Manage Trust accounting in compliance with the Law Society of B.C. Rules
· Prepare monthly Bank reconciliations
· Statutory monthly/quarterly/annual tax filings
· GL/Ledger reconciliations as required
· Financial analysis and reporting on demand
· Manage payroll and benefits, personnel files, absenteeism records and other HR duties as assigned
· Intercompany transfers and various journal entries
· Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding client related accounts/disbursements
· Complete month-ends and year-end requirements
· Providing support with other accounting/administrative functions as needed

We offer a very competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with level of experience. The range of salary for the successful applicant is $70,000 to $90,000, pro-rated to the number of full-time days worked.
