Summary Of The Role We are seeking a seasoned Manager, Contracts Management, to lead and develop our national Contracts Management team. Working in the logistics, heavy lifting, and transport services sectors this leadership role involves both strategic oversight and hands-on management of contract lifecycle activities across Canada, ensuring commercial excellence and operational alignment.
In addition to overseeing and personally managing complex contractual matters, you will lead a team of Contracts professionals, ensuring consistency in contract practices and standards across the region. This dual responsibility includes actively reviewing, negotiating, and managing high-risk contracts while also setting the strategic direction for the Contracts Management function. As a key commercial advisor to senior stakeholders in sales, legal, and operations, you will play a pivotal role in aligning contractual engagements with Mammoet’s business objectives, operational execution, and quality standards.
As a management position, success in this role will be defined by your ability to develop talent, enhance processes, and build strong internal alignment between commercial and operational teams. Your role will be critical in fostering a collaborative, risk-aware, and performance-driven contracts culture.
What You’ll Be Doing Management of Contracts Management Team and Internal Stakeholders:
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of Contracts professionals across the Canada region, ensuring team alignment with strategic business goals and Mammoet’s commercial standards.
- Develop team capabilities through structured coaching, performance feedback, and training initiatives to foster continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Act as the key interface between the Contracts Management team and internal stakeholders (Sales, Project Management, Legal, Finance), ensuring seamless integration and communication across all phases of the contract lifecycle.
- Establish team priorities, workflows, and reporting systems to monitor team performance, contract risk exposure, and commercial outcomes.
- Represent Contracts Management in regional leadership discussions, contributing to strategic planning, risk governance, and decision-making processes.
Contract Formation
- Collaborate with sales, insurance and legal teams to review, negotiate, and finalize project and service contracts.
- Oversee the regional contracting process, ensuring risks are identified, mitigated, and managed.
- Provide guidance to sales and tendering teams on contractual matters, selecting appropriate contract forms based on service types and associated risks.
Post-Award Contract Management
- Participate in project kick-off meetings, working closely with Project Managers to manage contract deliverables, risks, and changes.
- Assist in developing a comprehensive contract administration and management framework.
- Lead dispute resolution and claims administration processes.
- Manage contract renewals, closures, and track lessons learned to improve future contract performance.
Client Relationship And Operational Support
- Manage client relationships, representing the company in client meetings and stewarding future business opportunities.
- Lead client contract negotiations, ensuring identified contractual issues are resolved.
- Support the sales team in transitioning contracts to the operations team, ensuring they are fully informed of key commercial and contractual matters.
- Assist project management in identifying and mitigating potential claims, changes, and variations, ensuring timely notifications are handled throughout the contract lifecycle.
Risk And Commercial Management
- Identify and communicate commercial risks to stakeholders, ensuring they are managed effectively across the contract lifecycle.
- This combined role ensures seamless contract management from formation through execution, while managing risks and fostering strong client relationships.
What You’ll Need Education
- Bachelors or Masters in a business administration / commerce, engineering or similar discipline related to construction contracts and projects
- Supplementary training in contract management or equivalent
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in construction or EPC contract administration/ management or equivalent in a fast paced environment
- Previous site and project management experience is advantageous.
