About TAF Contracting

TAF Contracting is a trusted Canadian general contractor specializing in commercial construction, with a strong focus on the retail, medical, and quick-serve restaurant industries across Ontario. Our reputation for delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget has positioned us as a leader in the field. At TAF Contracting, we pride ourselves on our collaborative team culture, dedication to client satisfaction, and innovative approach to construction management. If you’re an experienced Site Superintendent looking to make an impact in the construction industry, we want you to join our growing team.

The Role

We’re looking for a Site Superintendent who’s ready to take the lead on-site and ensure that every project runs smoothly from start to finish. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the construction site, ensuring that everything is executed according to plan, within budget, and on schedule. You’ll be the go-to person for the team, providing direction, solving problems, and ensuring that work is done safely and to the highest quality standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role where your experience and expertise will directly contribute to the success of our projects. If you’re a strong leader with a proven track record of managing commercial construction sites, we’d love to hear from you.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience: You’ve got at least 3-5 years of experience as a Site Superintendent or in a similar role, with a focus on restaurant and quick-serve restaurant construction. You’re familiar with the unique needs of the industry, from kitchen layout and equipment to customer flow and regulatory compliance.
  • Leadership: You’re a natural leader who knows how to motivate and manage a team of subcontractors and workers to achieve goals. You communicate clearly and ensure everyone knows what’s expected of them.
  • Organized & Proactive: You stay organized and ahead of the game, balancing multiple projects, managing schedules, and handling logistics with ease. If something’s out of place, you fix it before it becomes an issue.
  • Safety-Focused: You’ve got a strong commitment to safety and know how to enforce protocols on-site to keep everyone safe. You’re always thinking ahead when it comes to potential risks.
  • Problem-Solver: You know that no project is without challenges, and you thrive in finding creative, effective solutions—whether it’s a construction delay, a design change, or a last-minute client request.
  • Travel-Ready: You’re flexible and ready to travel to project sites across Canada, with a willingness to spend time on the road and oversee projects at multiple locations.
  • Technical Know-How: You’re comfortable with construction management software and project scheduling tools, and you have a deep understanding of the building codes, regulations, and standards specific to the restaurant and QSR industry.

What You’ll Do

1. Oversee Site Operations

You’ll be responsible for the overall coordination and execution of the day-to-day activities on the construction site. This includes managing subcontractors, ensuring the safe delivery of materials, and ensuring that work is completed on time and to the highest standards.

2. Supervise Staff & Subcontractors

You’ll supervise and direct all on-site construction workers and subcontractors, ensuring they follow the project’s plans, specifications, and safety protocols. You’ll foster a positive, productive environment on-site, making sure everyone is working together toward the same goal.

3. Ensure Safety Compliance

Safety is paramount. You’ll be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment by enforcing all safety regulations and ensuring that the team adheres to proper safety protocols. Conduct regular safety inspections, toolbox talks, and address any safety concerns immediately.

4. Manage Scheduling & Budgeting

You’ll collaborate with the project management team to ensure that construction activities are completed on schedule and within budget. You’ll keep a close eye on project timelines, identify potential delays, and work proactively to resolve issues before they impact progress.

5. Quality Control & Inspections

You’ll ensure that all work on site meets the required quality standards and construction codes. This includes conducting inspections, overseeing workmanship, and addressing any quality issues quickly. Your attention to detail will be critical to the success of each project.

6. Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution

Construction projects can come with their fair share of challenges. You’ll be the first line of defense in identifying potential problems and finding solutions. Whether it’s a scheduling conflict, safety concern, or design discrepancy, you’ll use your experience to navigate and resolve any issues on-site.

7. Maintain Documentation

Keep detailed records of daily activities on the site, including work completed, safety incidents, weather conditions, and any changes to the original plan. Your documentation will help ensure that the project stays on track and that all necessary permits and approvals are in place.
