About the role
Hatch Kids Learning Centre offers PreK programs for children 3 to 5 years old and school-aged (5 to 12 years old) programs in two locations in the heart of Richmond, BC. We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and the emergent curriculum, with a focus on children emotional, social, and academic growth. We are looking for a passionate Out-of-School-Care (OSC) educator to join our team.
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic team-player who will collaborate with other educators on our team to create a unique curriculum catered to the children in the program. You are punctual and responsible with good organizational and leadership skills. You are fun, engaging, and flexible, but also comfortable with setting classroom limits and expectations. You are confident in working in a program with 25 children and are interested in being a hands-on facilitator in their learning.
Responsibilities:

Planning and implementing an enriching, age-appropriate program and curriculum

Able to work alone with up to 12 school-aged children or with another educator with up to 25 school-aged children

Adhering to all licensing regulations

Maintaining a positive and professional relationship with parents, guardians, and teachers

Monitoring and engaging children during indoor and outdoor activities

Keeping program facilities and equipment safe and clean
Requirements:

20 hours or Responsible Adult Training or equivalent as required by BC Childcare Licensing

Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate required
-
A clear criminal record check

Must be at least 19 years of age

A valid ECE or ECEA certificate an asset

An up-to-date immunization record

Minimum 2 years experience working with children ages 5 – 12 years old
Employment terms:

This is a permanent part-time, split shift position, Hours are Monday to Friday, 7:45am to 9am AND 2:15 – 6:15pm during the school year (following the SD38 public school schedule). There could be an option for afternoon shift only for the right candidate but priority will be given to those who are availability for the split shift.

Additional hours are expected during early dismissals, professional and district closure days. Additional hours are available during Spring & Summer Breaks.

Salary: $18 - $22/hour depending on experience plus 4% vacation pay. This position is eligible for the $6/hour wage enhancement if you have a valid ECE certificate to practise in BC.
Applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English and hold valid visas to work in Canada.
