The Department of Economics has the following Sessional Lecturer position available for the 2025 Fall term and invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who are not current University of Toronto students. Late applications cannot be considered.

Course title: ECO460H5F (1 section)

Class schedule:

Section LEC0101 - Monday 1:00pm to 3:00pm (times subject to change)

Dates of appointment: September 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025 (actual work may extend into January 2026)
Delivery: The mode of instruction for this course will be in person.

Description of Course: This course provides an overview of financial risks which include market risk, credit risk and operational risk. It also discusses the importance of managing these risks and introduces students to basic tools for analyzing and managing them. [24L]

Estimated Enrolment: 60

Estimated Teaching Assistant Support: 50 hours (per section)

Position Description: All normal duties related to the design, administration and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; supervision of teaching assistants; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations, including make-up tests; calculation and submission of grades to university officials; holding regular student office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching and mastery of subject area
  • Previous experience in teaching this, or related course, at university level
  • Demonstrated Excellence in delivering online courses in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Economics
  • Professional experience in Finance industry

Salary: $9,820.70 at Sessional Lecturer I 0.5 FCE rate (inclusive of vacation pay)

$10,510.04 at Sessional Lecturer II 0.5 FCE rate (inclusive of vacation pay)

Salary rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail, in the event in a discrepancy of rates with this posting.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or III in accordance with Article 14:12
