Summary:
PHC is seeking a skilled journeyman carpenter to join our team! You’ll perform construction, repair, and maintenance of woodwork, furniture, and structural elements, working from blueprints and ensuring compliance with building codes.
What You Bring:
Education
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Carpenter recognized by the Province of British Columbia. Two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.

Your Day to Day
- Designs, constructs, and maintains woodwork, furniture, doors, and hardware.
- Installs and repairs structural and non-structural elements per building codes and fire regulations.
- Performs minor roof repairs, clean-up, and demolition tasks.
- Prepares and installs acoustic and gypsum suspended ceiling systems, steel stud, and gypsum walls.
- Reviews work requests and consults with departments on specifications and project needs.
- Interprets blueprints and calculates materials and labor for cost estimation.
- Plans work schedules and assembles necessary tools and materials.
- Assigns tasks and provides training to designated staff.
- Manages inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment; maintains reports and recommends purchases.
- Performs other related duties as required.
