About the role
ACI Brands Inc. is one of Canada’s largest multi-divisional suppliers of consumer products, focused on all channels of Canadian retail. Located in Oakville at the Mississauga border, our dynamic company has an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Controller within the Finance department.
Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Corporate Controller is a key member of the Company’s Senior Management Team. Managing a team of 14, the main responsibilities of the role include overseeing the daily operations of Finance (accounts receivable and accounts payable), as well as financial accounting and reporting, payroll, and group benefits administration. Also included in the scope of the role is managing the fiscal year-end external audit and corporate tax compliance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Complete month-end close process
- Preparation of the Monthly Financial Reporting Package for Executive Review
- Review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations monthly
- Oversee the completion and distribution of all supplementary and divisional financial reports and analysis.
- Full responsibility for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, cash flow, and disbursements.
- Assist in the preparation of the quarterly forecast and annual budgets.
- Provide accounting and analytical support to sales, marketing, procurement and other internal departments.
- Identify and implement business process improvement opportunities.
- Perform continuous assessment of the close process to reduce the timing to close the financial period.
- Manage staff members (3 Direct reports, total of 14), providing complete career development and performance evaluations.
- Full management of year end external audit and tax compliance (Canada and U.S.)
- Responsible for payroll and group benefits administration
- Key liaison with Company’s Bank
- Other special projects as required.
The successful candidate will have the following attributes and experience:
- Minimum 7-10 years of relevant industry experience, preferably distribution in a multi-currency environment
- Experience in the consumer product distribution or retail industry would be an asset.
- Professional accounting designation
- People management experience
- Proven experience with complete management of Finance and Accounting teams including month end close, reporting, analysis, account reconciliations and day to day operations.
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, hands on and driven to accomplish team goals and deadlines.
- Intermediate to advanced excel skills.
- Experience with an ERP system and EMP (reporting and planning) Software
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and succeed in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
