The KinderPAL Early Childhood Instructor works under the supervision of the school principal and is responsible for the daily planning, organization, and implementation of programming for kindergarten aged students. Instructors will plan and implement the KinderPAL program to provide programming that follows a child-centered, play-based approach guided by FLIGHT: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework. Key responsibilities include the development and delivery of developmentally appropriate activities, which support student participation and engagement in meaningful learning activities in a nurturing and safe environment.

Qualifications:

• relevant education such as Early Childhood Education or Educational Assistant training considered an asset

• CPR/First Aid Certification preferred

• three years of related experience in the education field

• demonstrated ability to effectively interact with and relate to children in a developmentally appropriate manner

• other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform the position may be considered

Candidates must:

• possess knowledge of child development and best practices in early learning
• have effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents as necessary
• strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• be able to lead large group learning activities, as well as guide and extend learning in small groups or with individual students
• be willing to utilize positive behaviour supports according to established school/division guidelines
• maintain confidentiality and honour the right to privacy for all students and their families during and outside the school day
