POSITION SUMMARY:
Are you passionate about protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring long-term pipeline integrity? TNPI is looking for an experienced Corrosion Engineer to lead the charge in safeguarding our pipeline systems. As a subject matter expert in cathodic protection and corrosion control, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our assets while supporting compliance and safety across all operations. As a key custodian of TNPI’s Corrosion Program, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and continuous improvement of our corrosion prevention strategies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead cathodic protection (CP) annual surveys, close interval potential surveys (CIPS), and direct current voltage gradient (DCVG) surveys from planning through analysis.
- Predict corrosion growth rates using In-line Inspection (ILI) data, dig findings, and forecasts to inform proactive control strategies.
- Develop targeted corrosion management maintenance plans to support integrity and risk mitigation.
- Serve as TNPI’s subject matter expert (SME) on cathodic protection systems (impressed current and sacrificial anodes).
- Analyze CP data to troubleshoot, optimize systems, and resolve non-compliance issues.
- Correlate ILI and CP field data to reduce excavation needs through predictive modeling.
- Maintain and enhance the Pipeline Corrosion Management System to meet evolving integrity goals.
- Develop and implement corrosion-related policies, procedures, tools, and training.
- Provide SME support for maintenance, new construction, and facility corrosion control needs.
- Prepare program reports on status, effectiveness, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Oversee remote monitoring system functionality and issue bi-monthly performance reports.
- Ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions for corrosion-related anomalies or failures.
- Support job planning, contract negotiation, and budgeting for corrosion-related activities.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, including Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP)/National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) requirements.
- Guide project-specific CP system designs and establish customized monitoring criteria.
- Identify shielding effects and optimize CP system performance across line sections.
- Participate in external audits and represent TNPI in technical discussions on corrosion mitigation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must-haves (minimum requirements):
- 10 years of hands-on experience working with or around cathodic protection systems with a strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms and materials behavior.
- A Bachelor of Engineering degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent education.
- A valid Professional Engineering designation.
- A Cathodic Protection Level II (CP2) Certification from the AMPP.
- A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record.
- Electrical knowledge including AC, DC and electrochemical theory.
- Knowledge of pipeline operations and the characteristics of products transported by pipeline.
- Competent knowledge of corrosion control, with in depth understanding of corrosion mechanisms and mitigation techniques.
- Ability to proficiently utilize corrosion related testing equipment including, but not limited to multi-meters, reference electrodes, current interrupters, amperimetric clamp, resistivity meter, wall thickness gage, pit gage, insulator checkers, holiday detector, pipe and cable locators, chart recorders and data loggers.
- Strong Analytical, problem solving and trouble-shooting capability and decision-making skills.

Preference for:
- A Cathodic Protection Level III (CP3) Certification from AMPP.
- Strong Project Management experience.
- Hands-on field experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- TNPI offers a flexible work policy that allows for hybrid or remote work arrangements. Employees who are permitted to work a flexible work arrangement will be required to attend the physical home office location in Richmond Hill, Ontario, located at 310-45 Vogell Road, Lancaster, Ontario, located at 5763 County Rd #34, RR#1 or Montreal, Quebec, located at 10040 Metropolitan Blvd. E. occasionally, as required.
- Hours of work are a regular 35-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs.
- This position will require travel to pipeline facilities and site from Nanticoke, Ontario to Montreal, Quebec using a company provided vehicle (percentage varies); flexibility to travel as operational needs arise is essential.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Are you passionate about protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring long-term pipeline integrity?
