Reporting to the Charge Nurse (RN) and Director of Nursing, the RPN will enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practice in keeping with the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario and Long Term Care Act.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work a positive team member within our interdisciplinary team
- Ensure resident care is provided with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders and administrative policies, as well as, observe, report and record vital signs, symptoms and conditions of residents.
- Assess need for referral to doctors; processes and implement physicians’ orders.
- Assist in the developing, implementing, reviewing and evaluating of resident care plans, as well as RAI coding.
- Plan, direct, supervise and evaluate the work of nursing and personal care staff.
- Orient and train new personnel.
- Coordinate nursing team's resident care assignments to ensure efficient and timely delivery of services to residents;
- Monitor performance and conduct performance appraisal and refers problems to the Director of Nursing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Appropriate current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices, as well as knowledge in Infection Control Practices.
- Ability to work effectively individually and with others while prioritizing tasks to handle the most urgent first.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required;
- MUST have a current Police Check (Vulnerable Sector).
