Ready to make an impact? Reporting to the VP, Insurance Risk, the Director, Risk Operations has responsibility for the management of credit and collateral policies, underwriting framework, and oversight of loan quality within the insured portfolio.
Here is where you will be focusing to ensure your success.
- Monitor new insurance exposure against internal risk appetite tolerances and limits. Proactively assess through data analytics and provide recommendations for mitigation of emerging trends to the Company’s senior management (Insurance Risk Committee).
- Supervise and provide guidance to the Risk Manager, Credit Policy role who will develop and implement new credit and collateral policy guidelines and maintain and update existing policies.
- Serve as subject matter expert for all credit policy issues including regulatory requirements (OSFI Guideline B-21, PRMHIA).
- Maintain the Company’s Residential Mortgage Insurance Underwriting Plan.
- Manage Regional Risk Managers across the country; ensure robust monitoring of economic and housing related trends and assess potential impact to the insurance portfolio.
- Lead business validation for internal modeling projects where insurance risk insight is required.
- Manage all third-party relationships with respect to AVM’s, credit reporting agencies and other data providers and ensure that new tools and processes are explored to maximize underwriting efficiency and optimize portfolio risk.
- Provide support to regional and national sales functions with customer inquiries and presentations.
- Oversee the optimization of risk technology, auto-decisioning, updates to business rules and other models and tools utilized to adjudicate risk to ensure timely and smooth implementation.
- Collaborate with other key internal stakeholders (Operations, Sales, Loss Mitigation, Investigations, Quality Assurance, etc.) to address any emerging trends and effective change management of internal/external updates.
- Provide risk management expertise in the assessment of portfolio insurance transactions.
- Actively participate in key strategic projects, providing risk management expertise and credit policy/underwriting knowledge, as required.
What We Are Looking For.
- Minimum 10 years of risk management experience in a mortgage lending environment.
- Prior experience overseeing the work and managing performance of a dynamic team, in a fast-paced business environment.
- Demonstrated experience with mortgage underwriting and/or credit policy.
- Previous experience in supporting a business in dealing with regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated success in overseeing the work and managing the relationship with third party providers.
- Superior project management skills and attention to detail with the ability to work with and influence all levels in the organization.
- Exceptional written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Organized and customer centric.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration or Economics.
This position requires work from our Oakville office but offers a flexible hybrid work model that allows employees to work remotely from their home office.
