Mechanic Maint Spec Equip Eng & Plant Services
About the role
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs and troubleshoots repairs to the following: various patient equipment including beds, stretchers, patient lifts, wheelchairs and IV poles; sterilizers and autoclaves; medical vacuum and air systems; specialized dietary and kitchen equipment, PRV'S, sump pumps, steam process equipment.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance on the above.
- Liases with the Clinical Leader/Manager and departmental equipment managers to identify Engineering services required.
- Coordinates external service requirements.
- Responsible for applicable code and proper documentation of the above.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Community College diploma or certification in electronics and/or equivalent experience working with complex dietary and kitchen equipment.
- Steam Fitter's certification required.
- Stationary operators certification preferred.
- Knowledge in sump pumps, steam equipment, autoclaves and sterilizers.
- Work experience in a Hospital/Health atmosphere an asset.
- Minimum 2 years experience in the field of electronics or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years experience in maintenance/mechanical field.
- Minimum 2 years experience with sterilization equipment and a sound knowledge of related CSA code.
- Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with specialized kitchen equipment.
- Minimum 3 years experience with the repairing and troubleshooting of Hospital Medical vacuum air.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to handle complex situations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a safe and courteous manner.
- EDM license is an asset
