About the role

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs and troubleshoots repairs to the following: various patient equipment including beds, stretchers, patient lifts, wheelchairs and IV poles; sterilizers and autoclaves; medical vacuum and air systems; specialized dietary and kitchen equipment, PRV'S, sump pumps, steam process equipment.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on the above.
  • Liases with the Clinical Leader/Manager and departmental equipment managers to identify Engineering services required.
  • Coordinates external service requirements.
  • Responsible for applicable code and proper documentation of the above.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Community College diploma or certification in electronics and/or equivalent experience working with complex dietary and kitchen equipment.
  • Steam Fitter's certification required.
  • Stationary operators certification preferred.
  • Knowledge in sump pumps, steam equipment, autoclaves and sterilizers.
  • Work experience in a Hospital/Health atmosphere an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the field of electronics or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in maintenance/mechanical field.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with sterilization equipment and a sound knowledge of related CSA code.
  • Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with specialized kitchen equipment.
  • Minimum 3 years experience with the repairing and troubleshooting of Hospital Medical vacuum air.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to handle complex situations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a safe and courteous manner.
  • EDM license is an asset
