Position Overview
The Software Technical Lead position in our Space division is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Canadian-based tech organization. As part of a team of software developers and system engineers, you will be involved in providing innovative solutions to the world’s leading satellite operators. You will help define a software architecture, communicate the architecture to the team, review the technical quality of team deliverables and help lead the delivery of the system. You will demonstrate technical leadership through proposals, developing and documenting software architectures, and conducting code reviews to deliver high-quality to our clients and their mission-critical systems. Working as part of a team of 5 to 8 software developers that are part of a group of 100+, you will collaborate, provide mentorship, and technically lead the team towards successful project completions.

This position can be 100% remote.
Responsibilities
- Work with a Team Lead, who is a people manager, to achieve success on assigned projects
- Provide technical leadership on projects and make key and innovative contributions to any phase of a software project
- Contribute to the development of a software architecture and communicate it to the team
- Work with others to keep the implementation within the agreed-on scope
- Direct developers to follow the architecture and keep the implementation within the agreed-on scope
- Ensure effective coding practices are followed by mentoring team members and performing code reviews. You care about consistency and that the team produces high-quality code
- Spend most of your time coding, doing code reviews and integrating and testing software
- Assist in recruiting, training, and staff performance management
- Communicate with the Project Manager to ensure the project is on schedule and budget
- Assist in recruiting, training, and staff performance management
- Assist in the selection, adoption, and management of tools, technologies, and techniques
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics degree or software related technology diploma will be preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and building complex backend systems
- Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or C++
- Demonstrated experience as a technical leader by contributing to high level software design, ensuring quality code is written through good code reviews and being key on integration and test
