About the role
Zoo To You is looking for a unique animal lover with an outgoing personality to join our Zoo Crew as an Animal Handler/Presenter for birthday parties, schools, daycares, and other live animal events.
The ideal candidate must:
· Be great with children.
· Have experience with some of the types of animals that Zoo To You works with (a full list is available at www.zootoyou.ca).
· Be open and comfortable working with all of the animals listed on our website.
Additional hands-on training will be provided.
About the Position:
· Full-time (including weekends) during the busy season (May–August).
· Overtime pay (time and a half) for hours exceeding 44 per week.
· The day always starts 15 minutes west of Lindsay before heading out to various locations within a 200 km radius.
· You’ll bring a variety of animals to schools, daycares, summer camps, birthday parties, retirement homes, and other interactive live events.
· You must be comfortable handling, interacting with, and presenting each animal, sharing fun and unique facts in an engaging way for both children and adults.
· Must be confident presenting to groups of up to 25 people (group sizes may increase as you gain experience).
This position is ideal for a college or university student, as hours reduce to part-time in September during the school year and increase to full-time again in May.
Requirements:
· Valid G-class driver’s license (G2 not accepted).
· Clean driving record (license must be shown at the interview; driver’s abstract will be verified before training).
· Able to pass a vulnerable sector background check.
· Comfortable with all animals listed on our website.
Pay:
· Training hours: $16.55/hour (minimum wage)
· Starting pay after training: $17.55/hour
