About the role

Ready to drive cutting-edge tech solutions? The Edmonton Police Service is looking for a Lead Application Analyst to join the Integrated Applications Section! Reporting to the Manager, you’ll design and maintain innovative system integrations, deliver expert tier-three support, and solution high-impact projects. Key Responsibilities

System Integrations:

  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of system integrations to ensure seamless connectivity between EPS applications and external systems.
  • Provide technical expertise and consultative work involving all phases of research, feasibility, design, development, and implementation of data integration processes.
  • Ensure integrations are secure, scalable, and aligned with EPS operational requirements.

Project Leadership:

  • Serve as a technical lead on projects, providing expertise in solution architecture, coding standards, and best practices.
  • Work with stakeholders to define technical requirements and ensure project deliverables meet quality and timeline expectations.

Technical Leadership:

  • Enforce a high standard of coding quality, ensuring adherence to secure coding practices and industry standards.
  • Ensure designs and deliverables align with Enterprise IT Strategies and approved Architectures.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems and processes.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the IT Branch to ensure that all application issues are addressed in a timely manner and that proper coordination is carried out to minimize disruption to the provision of IT services.

Tier-Three Support:

  • Provide advanced technical support for complex system issues, troubleshooting and resolving critical incidents.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to diagnose and address escalated problems efficiently.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Tier III operational support, application development
  • Provide extensive subject matter expert knowledge on back-end data sources and how to perform all CRUD operations including but not limited to SQL Server/Oracle/Postgres/SharePoint/Flat File/JSON/XML/APIs
  • Train, coach, mentor and provide technical/procedural guidance and documentation for tier 1 and 2 support personnel

Qualifications: Education and Experience:

  • Degree in a related discipline and 6+ years relevant experience or Post secondary diploma and 7+ years relevant experience.
  • Minimum of four (4) year providing application support. Experience providing 24x7 on-call support to a mission-critical application or system would be an asset.
  • Minimum of six (6) years progressively responsible experience in the following: programming, systems analysis and design, process and data modeling, designing and developing applications, Microsoft ASP.NET, VB.NET OR C#.
  • Minimum of at least three (3) years in a senior/lead developer role including guiding other developers, mentoring and establishing/enforcing developer practices.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in building and maintaining system integrations in a complex IT environment.
  • Experience or working knowledge of current public safety solutions would be an asset.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in coding technologies such as Java, Python, C#, or similar languages.
  • Expertise in integration technologies (e.g., REST APIs, SOAP, Message Queue / Message Bus, and ETL processes).
  • Experience with database systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL) and writing complex queries.
  • Experience and understanding of various authentication protocols (OAuth2, SAML, Negotiate/Kerberos, Basic, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with FME, Azure Message Bus and Azure Fabric are considered assets.
  • Experience developing and implementing data integration standards and best practices
  • Experience in conducting code reviews for other developers.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and cybersecurity principles.

Leadership and Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written skills with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic work and team environment.
  • Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Salary Range : 21B, Salary Grade 039, $52.86 - $67.38 (Hourly), $4,229.30 - $5,390.60 (Bi-Weekly), $110,384.21 - $140,695.70 (Annually)
