Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and support to front-line supervisors to ensure daily plant activities are completed safely, efficiently, and effectively.
- Implement and uphold standard operating procedures to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all process equipment.
- Conduct thorough investigations into incidents and near misses; identify root causes and implement corrective actions through training, equipment improvements, or procedural updates.
- Support the execution of the plant maintenance strategy in close coordination with the maintenance team.
- Oversee plant operations to consistently achieve production and quality objectives.
- Collaborate with the Process Manager, Process Engineer, Lab Supervisor, and Coal Quality Manager to ensure quality control and cost-efficiency.
- Identify and resolve equipment or process issues, maintaining compliance with established operating standards.
- Prepare and manage plant personnel schedules in alignment with production requirements.
- Assess team and individual performance against objectives, providing coaching and corrective action as needed.
- Identify areas for workforce performance improvement and implement training or development initiatives.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including Environmental, Maintenance, and Technical teams.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
- Valid BC Mine Supervisor Certificate.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a plant within mining or heavy industry.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
- Ability to support management and contribute to operational planning and improvement.
- Understanding safety regulations in a mining environment.
Technical Competencies & Skills
- Ability to adhere to a 8x6 schedule; 12 hours a day (days only).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to ensure effective coordination, safety compliance, and clear direction to crews.
- Proven leadership and team-building abilities to drive performance, accountability, and safe work practices among the plant team.
- Ability to foster a positive, safety-focused culture grounded in teamwork, integrity, and operational excellence.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn site-based maintenance and reporting systems (e.g., timecards, vacation requests, and leaves).
- Effective time and priority management to navigate dynamic operational needs and respond to unplanned events.
- A proactive leadership approach that motivates crews and supports the achievement of safety, production, and maintenance goals.
Wage and Benefits
Conuma Resources takes pride in providing industry-competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package that truly values our employees. Specifically for the Plant Superintendent role, we offer an annual base salary range of $120,000.00 - $140,000.00, along with a variety of bonuses. These bonuses include monthly efficiency bonuses linked to safety and production, quarterly retention bonuses, and a performance bonus tailored to reward your contributions. Our benefits package also includes paid vacation and personal days, 7% RRSP matching, and 100% employer-paid extended health and dental care, among other valuable perks.
