Jack Victor high quality tailored clothing is produced by its 850 employees at the company’s state- of-the-art downtown Montreal manufacturing facilities. The company operates major showrooms in Montreal, New York and Toronto which are maintained by full-time staff.
Fit Technician is responsible for evaluating garment fit, construction, and overall quality to ensure the highest standards of Jack Victor products. This role involves working closely with our merchandising team and oversees manufacturers to create garments that meet our brand specifications and customer expectations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fit Evaluation:
- Conduct fit sessions on live models or dress forms to assess fit on men’s knits, shirts, coats and sports jackets.
- Analyze fit and construction issues, providing detailed feedback and recommendations for adjustments.
- Document fit session outcomes, including measurements, corrections, photos, and notes.
- Manage log and communications with suppliers for all incoming fit and approval samples.
- Attend weekly meetings
- Coordination with New York office to review all sportswear tech packs and ensure proper procedures are maintained.
Technical Specifications:
- Create and update tech packs with detailed product specifications using Adobe Illustrator.
- Fill out Bill of Materials associated with each product and provide grading specs.
- Create and approve care label layout based on fabric spec sheet
- Ensure all tech packs are accurate and comprehensive for manufacturers to follow.
- Communicate fit and construction standards to overseas manufacturers (in Asia and in Europe).
Quality Control:
- Review samples for adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and brand requirements.
- Identify and troubleshoot production issues, ensuring timely resolution to maintain production schedules.
- Manage archived samples
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in technical design, garment fitting, or a related role.
- Degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field with a good understanding of garment construction.
- Background/experience with a passion for menswear is a plus.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency using technical software such Adobe Illustrator and Excel.
- Keen eye for detail and excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to analyze body measurements and translate them into accurate garment specifications.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
