We are looking for a dynamic photovoltaic scientist with a strong background in thin film roll-to-roll compatible coating techniques, with outstanding managerial, organizational and technical skills, and with high work ethic and ingenuity to join our team and help build the future of solar technology.
The driven, passionate, self-motivated and enthusiastic candidate will join our multidisciplinary R&D team which is located in the heart of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Interested candidates are encouraged to send a cover letter, a resume, and a list of at least three professional references to careers@qdsolarinc.com.

As a successful candidate, you will own a variety of responsibilities and duties related to the fabrication of large-area quantum dot and perovskite thin-film PV devices.

Responsibilities and duties include:
  • You will work with our team to scale-up QD and perovskite ink formulations.
  • You will apply your strong knowledge in thin film deposition technology to develop quantum dot and perovskite thin films by means of roll-to-roll compatible coating technologies such as slot die coating and blade coating.
  • Using these processes, you will make large-area QD and perovskite solar cells.
  • You will work with our team to design and implement the most efficient large-area solar cell layouts and architectures.
  • You will plan and manage design of experiments (DOE) on a daily basis. As such, you will manage, and work with our team to execute fabrication of the solar cells.
  • You will work closely with our CTO on short and long-term planning of the technology roadmap.
  • You will implement strict quality control throughout the ink fabrication and coating processes.
  • You will train staff and interns on best practices of materials processing.
  • You will create and maintain standard operating procedures and written records to ensure high work reproducibility with high degree of quality and reliability.
Requirements include:
  • You have a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Nanotechnology Engineering, Process Engineering, or Materials Science.
  • You have a deep understanding of perovskite and quantum dot solar technology.
  • You have extensive experience in the fabrication of photovoltaic thin films by means of roll-to-roll compatible slot die coating or blade coating, ideally applied to perovskite or quantum dot ink formulations.
  • You have experience in handling and fabricating air- and moisture-sensitive inorganic and organometallic nanomaterials and inks.
  • You have substantial knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in photovoltaic device fabrication and processing.
  • You have outstanding organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • You have experience in managing and motivating a team of driven scientists and engineers.
  • You have excellent communication skills among colleagues, industry and suppliers.
