The Projects Management branch is responsible for the successful and timely delivery of capital projects from project inception through contract closeout. This branch is responsible for the coordination/scheduling, administration, oversight and project management of the department’s capital program including the delivery of engineering design, construction management, right-of-way, and financial management.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Must be able to travel by ground, and air across Manitoba with possible overnight stays, as required.

  • Must be able to possess and maintain a valid full Class 5F Manitoba Driver's license

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Completion of a post secondary education or diploma in a related field such as project management, engineering, construction management, architecture or business administration. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Extensive experience in the field of project management, including design construction of civil infrastructure, contract management and applying project management principles and techniques to assigned projects.
  • Supervisory experience with the ability to coach and mentor staff.
  • Experience with Project Management software including project scheduling.
  • Excellent problem solving, negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Experience providing consultative advise to management and related stakeholders.
  • Strong planning, research and analytical skills to identify and integrate relevant information into action plans.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet competing deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to articulate complex matters to various stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication skills to prepare complex technical documents for a variety of audiences, including senior officials and project stakeholders.

Duties:

The Manager, Project Management Team reports to the Director of Project Management, this position is responsible for managing a team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators. The Manager provides leadership in capital project management and delivery of a portfolio of projects from the Infrastructure Capital Program within their group. The manager is required to collaborate with peers and staff within the branch and other divisions, branches and regions within Infrastructure capital Projects to standardize and continuously improve capital project management processes and tools.
