About the role
Maple Villa Long Term Care Centre is an accredited 93 bed home located in Burlington near the shores of Lake Ontario. Maple Villa has provided quality care and services to the community and surrounding areas for over 50 years. Maple Villa Long Term Care is looking for a qualified Dietary Aide with cooking experience. The Dietary Aide will assist in the nutritional services provided to the residents of our long-term care home and be an alternate cook for the in-house chef . The successful candidate will follow established policies/procedures and standards, while reporting to the Nutrition Manager.
Rotation:
28 hours bi-weekly with alternating weekends off;
#7 - 5:30pm - 9:30pm

The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous professional experience in a health care setting would be an asset;
- Have knowledge of sanitation, hygiene, food production, safety, and understanding of therapeutic diets;
- Be reliable with a positive attitude and able to work well with others in a team atmosphere;
- Have time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask;
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Possess a current police check within the vulnerable sector
- Have previous cooking experience
- Must have a valid Food Safety Handling Certificate issued by Public Health, you have successfully completed or are enrolled in a Food Service Worker program.
- Apprentice Cooks, Institutional Cooks, and Assistant Cooks, as well as persons who have entered into registered training agreements in the trade of Cook, Institutional Cook, or Assistant Cook are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Tasks include meal and snack service delivery
- Dining set up and clean up
- Kitchen sanitary procedures
- Cleaning of work areas
- Volume dishwashing
- Maintaining proper infection prevention practices through best practices in safety and sanitation.
