Role Overview As the Manager, Formulary & Pricing, you will support pharmacy operations, systems support, data analytics, and project delivery. The incumbent will have strong technical and analytical capabilities, coupled with deep domain expertise in Kroll, and a keen understanding of drug formularies, pricing models, and compliance within regulated healthcare environments.

Responsibilities Formulary Management

  • Lead the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of the retail pharmacy formulary in alignment with business objectives and patient care standards.
  • Analyze medication use trends and recommend adjustments to maximize value and clinical appropriateness.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy and clinical teams to evaluate new medications for formulary inclusion and therapeutic alternatives.
  • Interpret and maintain provincial drug formularies ensuring pricing and classification alignment within the Kroll system.

Pricing Strategy & Optimization

  • Lead and focus on pricing projects as it relates to pricing strategies and optimization.
  • Develop and implement drug pricing strategies that balance competitiveness, compliance, and margin goals.
  • Utilize tools like Kroll Central Maintenance to manage bulk data operations and ensure accuracy in drug card records and system configurations.
  • Monitor pricing trends, generic launches, and competitive intelligence to inform pricing decisions.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to model financial impact of pricing and formulary changes.
  • Conduct monthly inventory reconciliation by analyzing system data from Kroll and aligning with physical stock reports.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, finance, compliance, and other business units to drive system improvements, resolve issues, and support regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain documentation and audit readiness for pricing and formulary decisions.

Vendor & Partner Collaboration

  • Work with drug manufacturers, wholesalers, and group purchasing organizations (GPOs) to negotiate cost-of-goods and rebate agreements.
  • Monitor contract performance and ensure optimal alignment with pricing strategy.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Leverage analytical tools to perform predictive modeling, trend analysis, and performance reporting.
  • Provide actionable insights using data analytics tools to evaluate formulary utilization, cost trends, and profit margins.
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations using MS PowerPoint, translating complex findings into clear visual insights for diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications And Other Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmacy systems support or a similar role within healthcare or health IT.
  • Strong working knowledge of pharmacy software platforms, especially Kroll.
  • Proficient expertise in Microsoft Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Canadian provincial drug formularies
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel functionality.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a proven track record of cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments, adhering to compliance and privacy requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in data science or analytics in the healthcare/pharmaceutical domain.
  • Experience in business process improvement or systems implementation projects.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations workflows and best practices.
