The Strategic Policy, Planning and Reporting Branch at the Ministry of Corrections, Policing & Public Safety, is seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented, innovative individual for the permanent role of senior policy analyst.
The Opportunity
Our branch works to advance issues that cross public safety, corrections, and policing files. We focus on advising and supporting leaders to develop strategies and action plans to advance their priorities, including through our relationships and engagement with the federal government and other provinces and territories. That’s where YOU come in.
We offer a challenging and dynamic work environment where you will play a key role in enhancing ministry programs and services through strategic policy development. Your work will advise decision makers on a wide array of policing, justice, corrections, and other public policy files. You will support corporate projects, lead external consultations/engagements, manage strategic change initiatives, and participate on intra‑ and inter-ministry working groups. You will provide advice and guidance to intergovernmental tables to advance Saskatchewan’s priorities.
The ideal candidate for this role will:
- have experience in policy formulation, implementation and evaluation;
- have an in-depth understanding of and experience with government decision-making processes, including Cabinet processes, and legislative frameworks;
- be a clear communicator, with the ability to use advanced writing and analytical skills to provide clear analysis and strategic advice appropriate to the audience;
- have strong collaboration skills and the ability to develop good working relationships with a range of stakeholders;
- have analytical and research skills to identify issues, opportunities and develop program policy, options and recommendations to address solutions;
- minimum of five years’ experience in Strategic Policy;
- demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills, and the ability to identify creative solutions; and
- have a reputation for high-quality work with successful outcomes.
Typically, the knowledge for this position would be attained by a minimum of five years of applied public policy experience in the public sector, or equivalent.
