About the role

Looking for a flexible and independent way to earn extra income while making a difference in your community? As a Dropbox Attendant, you'll play a vital role in supporting Diabetes Canada by collecting and storing recycled textiles and small household items from donation bins located throughout your assigned territory.

Our Organization The National Diabetes Trust is Canada’s largest charitable clothing and small household good collection service. With more than 5,000 donations bins and an active home pick-up service in communities across Canada (excluding Quebec), we collect unwanted gently used clothing and household items, using them to raise much-needed funds for Diabetes Canada.

Each year, the program diverts more than 100 million pounds of clothing and household items from landfill sites across Canada. As an employee on the National Diabetes Trust team, you are part of our national coverage in 2,500 communities, with 28 operations and 100 trucks. What You Will Do Collecting and storing recycled textiles and small household items from Diabetes Canada donation bins that are placed in the community.

The role involves managing a large territory of 38 donation bins (drop boxes), which may be divided between two DBA's or assigned to one candidate if they demonstrate the ability to handle the workload efficiently.

Duties Include

  • Regularly empty donation bins on a provided schedule
  • Bag loose items as needed (bags supplied)
  • Ensure cleanliness around the donation bins
  • Complete weekly service log sheets
  • Transport collected items to the designated storage facility as required
  • Meet Diabetes Canada Driver to load goods on truck

Skills And Requirements Vehicle Requirements: Applicants must own or operate a large vehicle, such as a van, cube van, or pick up truck to be considered for this role

Driver's license: A valid Drivers License is required

Physical Ability: Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis

HST Number: Applicants must have or be willing to obtain an HST number

Tax Benefits: You may be eligible for CRA deductions related to vehicle expenses (e.g., gas and maintenance) and technology used for this position.

Hours: Contract position so hours are part time and flexible.

Compensation: varies based on the volume of donations collected and stored. It’s designed to serve as a supplement income or additional income, making it an ideal opportunity for those looking to earn extra money with flexible, part-time work.
