Tulmar Safety Systems designs, manufactures, and distributes engineered protective textiles, survivability and safety solutions for the Aerospace, Defense and Public Security industries.

Tulmar Technical Services is a division of Tulmar Safety Systems, specializing in the maintenance, repair, and lifecycle management of cabin crew training equipment for the aviation industry.

Operating out of our Toronto location, we provide turnkey support for a range of safety training assets including cabin trainers, evacuation slides, rafts, and oxygen systems. We help aviation clients maintain regulatory compliance and training readiness through expert servicing and reliable operational support.

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Coordinator to join a dynamic & close-knit team for a temporary position, with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Under the guidance of the National Service Manager, the Maintenance Coordinator plans, organizes and maintains the daily maintenance operations/serviceability checks of in-flight training equipment. More specifically, the Maintenance Coordinator inspects, troubleshoots and or repairs electrical, mechanical, PLC’s, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, establishes and implements sound preventative maintenance and safety procedures while always adhering to established safety standards

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Support the equipment requirements of the daily operations for Air Canada In-Flight training.

· Ensure the performance of maintenance requirements.

· Monitor and ensure compliance of quality control programs.

· Adhere to performance management objectives and projects.

· Maintain and improve preventative maintenance and repair of all training equipment such as motion simulator, static simulator, standalone doors, and fire training simulator.

· Preventative maintenance and repair of all mechanical systems such as hydraulic power units, air compressors, air dryers, and air conditioning units

· Preventative maintenance and repair of all electrical systems and power supplies, AC and DC (not including building power)

· Understand and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

· Develop and implement modifications and improvements to existing equipment and processes within the team environment.

· Liaise with suppliers and contractors to obtain quotes for parts & supplies, and procurement of same

· Supervise Outside Contractors

· Effectively interact with customers, co-workers, management, and outside contractors

· Fabrication of parts as applicable

· Installation and set-up of new equipment

· Maintain and improve preventative maintenance schedules and equipment records.

· Provide on-call 24/7 service, ensuring that no disruptions occur to scheduled training.

· Coordinate and assist with shipping and receiving functions (both International and domestic), including TDG (transportation of dangerous goods)

· Monitor and refill live training fire extinguishers.

· Assist with customer and external audits and certification of equipment as required i.e., Transport Canada

· All other duties as required.

What you need to succeed:

· Industrial Mechanic or Maintenance Mechanic (Millwright), trade certificate preferred; or relevant education and a minimum of 5 years + working knowledge and supervisory experience in a mechanical, machining or automotive industry

· Knowledge of inventory control practices and principles

· Advanced computer skills including maintenance monitoring and tracking software (MRS in house design), MSOffice, Blackberry, and office equipment. CMMS experience is an asset.

· Strong English communication, organizational and customer relations skills

· Self - motivated & ability to work alone, without direct supervision.

· Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints.

· Ability to plan tasks and work within budgets, including preparation of cost estimates, quotes, status reports, etc.

· Ability to problem solve.

· Ability to travel as required by the position.

· Working ability with all hand and power tools (must supply personal tools)

· Valid driver’s license and passport

· Police Records Check, subject to Security Background Check

· Flexible and willing to accept new challenges.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: From $1.00 per year
