Job Description KEY Accountabilities:

  • As an initial point of contact, represents The Salvation Army effectively by providing clients/residents and vendors with courteous and diplomatic service
  • Maintains knowledge of legislative and company policies such as Health & Safety Regulations
  • The Successful Candidate will be responsible to do phone interviews with our clients for our Community and Family Services Food Bank at our Penticton, Cawston/Keremeos locations
  • Assess Clients physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs and respond appropriately
  • Be willing to share the Christian faith and pray as opportunities arise
  • Be familiar with and refer clients to other community organizations as required
  • Assist with the Christmas Program as required
  • Assist with Fund raising as required
  • Undertake other reasonable duties as assigned
  • Accept donations and issue temporary receipt as required
  • Record all information for entry into Link 2 Feed
  • Available for call in and holiday coverage
  • ensure safety and security of clients, volunteers and staff
  • Point of contact for food distribution, and client information gathering

  • Ensures the safety and security of clients, volunteers and staff
  • Takes responsibility for daily and overall safety

Financial And Materials Management Accept and log and receipt donations

Working Conditions

  • Can be busy with lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Talking to clients to find out needs.
  • Meeting people at a vulnerable time in their lives.
  • Walking, lifting, sitting, computer skills would be a necessity

The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct. Education And Experience Qualifications Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • The successful job applicant will have completed High School, plus specialized courses of up to six (6) months. NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.

Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • Must be able to follow instructions both verbally and written
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with others
  • Be familiar with the Salvation Army Mission Statement
  • Possess basic computer skills and/or be willing to receive training (Word, Excel, Power Point, Link 2 Feed)
  • Demonstrate organizational skills
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written
  • Demonstrates ability to work with clients, peers, staff, and volunteers

Skills And Capabilities

  • Background check consent
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training

Compensation Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
