The Role

The Business Operations Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring a high-quality experience for iPolitics clients, subscribers, and partners. The Business Operations Coordinator supports the business development and sales team. This position is responsible for managing customer requests, supporting the internal team, and assisting in operations, sales, and administrative processes. This is a dynamic role requiring a high degree of adaptability and willingness to learn various aspects of a respected Canadian news organization, while also gaining invaluable experience from a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support sponsorship and advertising campaign execution by coordinating asset delivery, timelines, and performance reporting.
  • Support the planning, logistics, and execution of internal meetings, corporate events, and stakeholder engagements, including venue coordination, agenda development, and material preparation.
  • Assist with project management for cross-functional initiatives—monitoring deadlines, maintaining documentation, and facilitating follow-up.
  • Maintain and optimize shared calendars, task boards, and project tools to enhance team alignment and visibility.
  • Prepare internal reports, operational summaries, and coordination documents for leadership review.
  • Manage vendor and contractor communications, invoicing coordination, and operational support tasks as needed.
  • Attend key internal and external events to support coordination, logistics, and follow-up execution.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving business and media environment.
  • Initiative: Proactive, resourceful, and solutions-oriented with a can-do attitude.
  • Business background: An educational background in business, marketing, or finance are preferred but not required.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional and engaging style.
  • Organizational Skills: A natural multitasker with an eye for detail, capable of managing multiple priorities with tight deadlines.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, calendar management tools, and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Professionalism: Exceptional discretion and reliability when handling confidential information and high-level communications.
  • Comfortable with a hybrid work environment : Working from both home and the Ottawa office.
