Position Overview

The Engineering, Parks and Environment department is looking for three (3) Parking Ambassadors to work on an auxiliary basis from August through October 2025.

Responsibilities

In this position you will act as an ambassador of the City of North Vancouver and will work in the field / on the street to share information with businesses, residents, visitors, and passersby during the rollout of the new paid, on-street parking plan (CAPP) in the Lonsdale Avenue commercial corridor and adjacent areas.

With the recent approval of the City’s Curb Access and Parking Plan (CAPP), the City is seeking someone who can play an instrumental part in the team responsible for implementation. You will answer questions and provide assistance regarding parking rates, operation of parking pay stations, use of the paid parking phone app, and resident-exempt parking permit zones. You may track parking conditions and issues for metrics and reporting. You may provide occasional administrative and support services for the City’s Curb Access and Parking Plan team, including minor office duties.

You will assist with communications including creating and updating bulletins, flyers and notices to distribute to visitors both in print and on-line.

Requirements

You will have strong customer service and communication skills and solid competency in the use of smartphones (for supporting people looking to purchase parking or a permit). You will have the ability to work independently, exercise judgment, deal courteously with the public and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Completion of Grade 11 is required. Most of the working hours will be outside, and you will generally work as a team with one other Parking Ambassador or other City staff.

Compensation

$21.59 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits

(Pay grade 7 – January 2024 rates)

The City of North Vancouver is a certified Living Wage employer; the 2024 living wage is $27.05 (12% in lieu of benefits included) per hour.

Hours of Work

Auxiliary: Hours of work may vary, with an expectation of 25-35 hours per week. Shifts will primarily be 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday – Friday. Some weekend and evening shifts may occur.
