Due to the continued growth of our International Tax practice, we have an exciting career opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Manager, International Tax (outbound) in Toronto. This position offers the opportunity to assume a managerial role in our expanding International Tax Compliance practice. Your comprehensive knowledge of the Canadian corporate income tax rules along with strong working knowledge of the Canadian international tax rules will provide continued support in the practice.

As a Manager, International Tax Compliance your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and reviewing foreign affiliate surplus computations, FAPI calculations and T1134 information returns for multinationals with significant foreign subsidiary investments
  • Managing FAPI and surplus computation projects
  • Coordinating and assisting domestic tax colleagues with international tax compliance issues
  • Research technical issues as required
  • Training staff across Canada to prepare and review surplus and FAPI calculations and T1134 returns
  • Identifying and supporting business development opportunities, process improvement opportunities and practice development initiatives

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or Member of the Bar
  • 4+ years of experience working in tax, with a minimum of 1 year of international tax experience with a professional services firm or a multi-national corporation with foreign affiliates
  • Completion of In-depth tax course or a master’s degree in taxation
  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian corporate income tax with strong working knowledge of Canadian international tax rules
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, together with attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, research and communication skills
  • A strong commitment to client service and attention to detail
  • Ability to execute on deliverables in a deadline driven environment
  • Results oriented with a sense of urgency
  • Quick learner, self-starter and exudes a “can do” attitude
