Position Overview:

Reporting to Senior Director, Corporate Accounting, the Senior Manager will provide strategic leadership and direction to the accounting function. This role is accountable for overseeing the integrity of the general ledger, leading the month-end close process, and ensuring compliance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and internal controls. The Senior Manager will play a key role in driving process improvements, supporting business growth, and influencing financial decision-making across the organization. This position requires a strong leader who can manage a large team, collaborate cross-functionally, and contribute to the strategic direction of the Finance department.

What You'll Do**:**

  • Manage the accounting operations including the review of journal entries, consolidation, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Compile and analyze monthly statements, quarterly and annual financial statements (internal)
  • Lead a team to complete month-end activities, including balance sheet reconciliation, P&L account analysis, cash flow review
  • Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual operating results for each department
  • Prepare financial information for quarterly and annual reports
  • Implementation and management of internal controls with respect to financial policies, processes and procedures, including remediation activities
  • Provide advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis, and reporting
  • Establish sound accounting practices, ensuring other business systems/modules properly integrated with the general ledger
  • Identify process improvement and automation opportunities, facilitate meetings to identify root cause & recommends solutions, follow through to ensure recommended solutions are fully implemented
  • Supervise maintenance of company accounting records and systems
  • Assess staff performance, identifies training needs, provides technical guidance and coaching
  • Lead the preparation of client list for the annual audit and quarterly reviews, including preparing working papers
  • Support new systems or project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspective

Let's Talk About You:

  • University degree in Business/Accounting
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required with Chartered Accountant (CA) focus
  • 8-10+ years of professional accounting experience including public practice and working in publicly traded companies
  • 3+ years experience managing accounting staff
  • Strong IFRS technical accounting skills as evidenced by excellent research and documentation skills supporting accounting positions
  • Strong experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and internal controls
  • Accounting designation and evidence of strong technical accounting skills
  • Good understanding of IFRS and SOX
