The Opportunity

Zurich Canada is currently looking for a motivated and connected National Marine Swift Leader in Canada to deliver profitable growth through promotion of Zurich’s unique cargo solution across the country.

Reporting to the Head of Marine for Canada, you will be responsible for working with internal stakeholders as a dedicated resource for identifying unique opportunities with our national and strategic broker partners to deliver profitable growth via our unique cargo solution. You’ll work closely with the Canadian Marine Underwriting team as well as global cargo experts, and external broker partners to identify areas for operational improvements and enhanced product offerings. This comprises the development of an intimate knowledge of a given distributor’s business model and proposition together with the ability to be solution oriented.

The National Marine Swift Leader would also be responsible to create customized business plans which optimizes identified opportunities that align with our market basket strategies.

This is a hybrid opportunity where 4 days per week will be market-facing with national travel to assist broker partners in portfolio solutions and connectivity.

What you will do

  • Aggressively seeks new opportunities and collaborates with a team of sales specialists and underwriter resources to facilitate adoption of Zurich’s cargo solution.
  • Enterprise wide external business development with distributors to develop a detailed and accurate distributor profile and business plan.
  • Completes and maintains a detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors, which also identifies distributor growth areas that align with Zurich’s cargo solution.
  • Builds strong business relationships at multiple levels of Zurich Canada organization.
  • Conducts regular sales calls with distributor and internal functions with frequency aligned to opportunity and need.
  • Work closely with Operations, Finance and SBU to identify and facilitate operational improvements.
  • Conducts periodic reviews with distributors, manages their performance to ensure execution of the business plan.
  • In partnership with underwriters, negotiates to close accounts with distributors.
  • Drives and manages process to increase Zurich product density at existing accounts.
  • Builds internal relationships with Zurich Business Units to facilitate a unified face to market.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Sales and / or Underwriting areas

OR

  • 7 or more years of experience in the Sales and / or Underwriting areas

Preferred:

  • Ability to execute effective sales strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate critical business relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian marine insurance industry from a market and underwriting perspective
  • Strong relationships with existing distribution partners and creativity in executing mandate
  • Ability to travel within Canada
