Position Overview
Our client is an established and well-regarded Ontario-based Credit Union headquartered in the GTA. Currently experiencing a period of continued growth and development, they are seeking an experienced Business Banking Manager to lead their front-facing commercial banking operations. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will lead a team responsible for managing the Credit Union’s existing commercial accounts as well as taking a proactive approach to growing their commercial client base. This is an exciting opportunity for a business banking leader with solid commercial account management and lending expertise to impact a growing commercial book within the credit union space.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead commercial branch operations, including leading a team that will be responsible for administering credit & the day-to-day cash needs for businesses.
- Network to develop business relations, promote banking services and attract new customers.
- Proactively assess clients’ needs and propose solutions to deliver to meet those needs.
- Analyze, review and approve or reject loan and credit applications in accordance with authorized limits.
- Ensure the institution's policies and procedures are followed according to established guidelines and make recommendations for improvement.
- Commit to building a profile in the local business community to leverage that profile into effective working relationships with new and existing clients and internal partners.
- Oversee the branch team, including the recruitment and ongoing training of staff.
Desired Qualifications
- A university degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- At least 6+ years of progressive experience working in a commercial bank, credit union or regulated lender.
- Experience in commercial lending & underwriting for business banking clients. Commercial mortgage expertise an asset.
- A service-oriented attitude with excellent leadership, relationship-building, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Detail-oriented and possess a strong work ethic; ability to multitask and execute a wide range of assignments; strong time management skills.
Please note that at present, legal eligibility to work in Canada is a prerequisite for this role.
