About the role

Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About The Role Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Translation Coordinator to join our dynamic Communications team.

The Communications team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by working with divisional partners and external stakeholders to positively influence public perceptions of Canadian Blood Services. In this role, you will perform proofreading of documents, coordinate translation projects, assist and support the work of the translation team.

Formula for success

  • Utilizing your superior interpersonal and communication skills you will receive and process translation requests via Flowfit, by communicating and collaborating with internal and external customers, in a professional manner.
  • Leveraging your excellent time management skills, you will coordinate external translation services projects, such as contacting freelancers, sending material for translation/revision/proofreading and answering any questions clients may have.
  • You will assist the team with updating and proofreading of documents.
  • Utilizing your administrative skills, you will assist the Translations Manager with expenses and budget planning, including file maintenance and ensuring relevant information stored in SharePoint.

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of post-secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution. A certificate in translation is an asset.
  • Minimum two (2) years of previous experience as a translation coordinator or translation project manager.
  • Technical skills including Microsoft Office and a translation management software is a must. Experience with LogiTerm and FlowFit is a definite asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French, as well as strong proofreading (accuracy and detail) skills and a thorough knowledge of grammar and punctuation in English and French.
