About the role

The Granite Club is looking for a part time Recreation Coordinator that will be responsible for overseeing the key facilities in Recreation; the Sportzone, Granite Common, and the Hub to provide an enjoyable experience for the Members that come to utilize these facilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Providing supervision for the daily bookings and programs of our multi-use gymnasium; Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Fencing etc.
  • Assist and instruct Sport Programs, Camps and Community Programs.
  • Ensure safety and fair play of Members during participation in programs, camps and private bookings.
  • Accurate and timely reporting of accidents/incidents.
  • Regular input, feedback, and communication with supervisory staff regarding operational enhancement of the Recreation Department.
  • Various administrative tasks including monitoring the front desks, answering phone calls, taking care of registrations for classes and RPOS charges for Members.
  • Punctual opening and closing of facility, utilizing appropriate security procedures and departmental standards.
  • Ensure a pleasant, welcoming, safe environment exists, including maintaining cleanliness of all area’s assigned too.
  • Promote events, programs, classes for the Recreation Department
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working in camps, sports programs and community programs.
  • Minimum grade 12 high school education.
  • Degree or Diploma in Recreation & Leisure Services or a related area of study from a recognized college or university is an asset.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certifications an asset. Training will be provided if not certified.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, handles multiple priorities with strong organizational skills.
  • Team oriented, enthusiastic, creative, well-groomed, pleasant telephone manner, reliable, punctual.
  • Flexible to work variable shifts; evenings, weekends and holidays
