National Account Manager – Retail (Ontario-Based, Hybrid) A leading global food manufacturing company with over 50 years of success is looking to add a seasoned and entrepreneurial National Account Manager, Retail to its growing North American team. With a presence across Europe, Asia, and North America- including four manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and Canada, this privately held company produces premium bakery and frozen food products sold in over 50 countries worldwide.
Following the internal promotion of a top-performing team member, this Ontario-based hybrid role presents an exciting opportunity for a driven sales leader to manage a high-potential $30M+ account portfolio, build deeper relationships with Canada’s top grocery retailers, and play a key role in shaping national sales strategy.
About The Role Reporting to the National Sales Director, this position is ideal for a high-impact, consultative CPG professional who thrives in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment. You will lead all aspects of account management for several major Canadian retailers, driving both topline growth and bottom-line profitability through thoughtful planning, innovation, strong partnerships, and strategic execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the lead point of contact for key Ontario-based customers including Loblaws, Sobeys, Metro, Longo’s, Save-On-Foods, Farm Boy, Giant Tiger, and Northwest Company
- Manage a robust $30M+ book of business with a focus on deepening existing relationships and increasing share of wallet (90% retention/growth, 10% net new)
- Lead the development and execution of private label strategies in collaboration with internal marketing, R&D, and operations teams
- Drive end-to-end account planning: P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting, pricing strategy, merchandising, and promotional execution
- Translate customer insights into category growth strategies, marketing activations, and innovation opportunities
- Ensure high-quality sales presentations that clearly communicate product value, packaging, and service capabilities
- Conduct regular performance reviews and deliver ongoing reporting on sales activity, forecasts, and business trends
- Serve as the “Voice of the Customer” internally- aligning cross-functional teams to deliver service excellence
What You Bring:
- 5-10+ years of national sales/ account management experience in consumer packaged goods, ideally with a food manufacturer
- Demonstrated success managing major Canadian retail accounts, with a strong preference for private label experience
- Proven ability to build and execute customer-specific business plans and exceed sales/profitability targets
- Strategic thinker who enjoys building business within current accounts while pursuing new growth opportunities
- Highly collaborative, self-motivated, and adaptable to evolving systems, structures, and team dynamics
- Background in bakery or frozen food categories is a plus
- Degree or diploma in business or a related field
