About the Ministry
The Ministry of Health is seeking a permanent Claims Analyst position based in Regina. This position will provide support with the payment of physicians, other providers and beneficiaries for provincially-insured services.
Under the leadership of a Claims Supervisor, these positions will be responsible for:
- Accurately referencing, interpreting and applying legislation, policies, procedures and payment schedules in order to assess and pay physicians, beneficiaries and agencies for a variety of medical claims. This includes referencing items such as: the International Classification of Diseases; Canadian Classification of Diagnostic, Therapeutic and Surgical Procedures; assessment rules; patient histories; electronic databases, and provider payment schedules.
- Processing claims for hospital services under the inter-provincial reciprocal billing agreements.
- Accurately and promptly entering, editing and retrieving information using applications such as word processing, email, databases and various other software packages.
- Auditing payment cheques and performing mathematical calculations.
The Ideal Candidate
As our ideal candidates, you will be detail-oriented individuals with strong verbal and written communication skills, and you will demonstrate:
- Knowledge of medical procedures and terminology, including an understanding of anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic coding.
- Strong communication skills to actively listen, acknowledge concerns, and provide explanations to resolve difficult situations.
- Strong written skills to compose, edit, and format a variety of written correspondence.
- The ability to compile and transcribe data or reports, drawing from paper and electronic records to formulate information and responses.
- The ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple tasks in order to meet deadlines.
- Typically, the knowledge required for this position is obtained through education in a related field of study and/or working in a medical environment and/or processing and authorizing payments for medical services.
- Previous experience with medical claims billing is required.
