We are seeking a Staff Accountant for our team in the Markham Offices. Timings will be 9:30 am to 5:30 pm.
As a member of the Finance Team your duties will include all duties and responsibilities which are reasonably associated with your position, and which include but are not limited to:
What You’ll Do:
- Enter employee Expense reports, making sure taxes are accounted for and entering employee credit card cards in the system. Reconcile with correct GL or projects.
- Filing monthly Federal and Provincial taxes as well as corporate taxes.
- Working with internal audit and reconciling quarterly and year-end.
- Regularly assisting with AR collection and releasing Sales Orders from Credit Queue/Hold
- Assisting and back up of all members on the accounting team (Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable)
- Process customer Account Opening Applications and approve credit limits.
- Review various GL accounts at month end, such as Customer Deposits, intercompany transactions.
- Assist with issuing customer credit and rebills.
- Posting and reconciling customer payments via cheque, wire, credit card or EFT
- Issuing Customer Invoices and credit memos
- Processing cheque run payments and different vendor payments.
- Working with the team reconciling at month end and year end.
What You’ll Need:
- 4 + years’ experience in accounting
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and detail oriented
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skill
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook
Education:
- OSSD High School Diploma required AND
- A trade/vocational certificate or Community College Diploma in Administration, Accounting, or computer operations required
Preferred Characteristics:
- Organized, efficient, solid communicator in both verbal and written English
- Ability to independently manage the day and prioritize tasks
