Supervisor

The Supervisor under the direction of the Management Team will demonstrate an ability to apply leadership and supervisory principles in an ever-changing environment including: effective delegation, conflict resolution, crisis management and employee engagement and motivation.

The Supervisor will have the keen ability to turn Individual Support Plans into action and operational practice. Within the team environment, the Supervisor will ensure that direct support staff perform in a collaborative manner to provide individualized, person-directed supports to each person receiving support effectively within their daily lives and their community.

The Supervisor will supervise day-to-day operations of one or more programs, ensuring sufficient staff coverage, maximizing operational effectiveness, and ensuring the execution of organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in the human services field; DSW preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Developmental Services sector and 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Preference will be given to applicants with supervisory experience in a unionized setting
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships built on mutual respect and trust
  • Experience maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders both internal and external to the organization
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience assessing, coordinating and evaluating service delivery
  • Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of MCCSS, QAM, SIPPDA (2008)
  • Proficiency in documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and common office software (ADP Workforce Now)
  • Excellent oral & written communication,
  • Discretion in handling confidential matters, and
  • A strong personal philosophy and practice of the inclusion of all people.

Major Duties

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of support programs and monitor the effectiveness of support approaches
  • Assist in the orientation and evaluation of staff according to CLSH’s policies, procedures and Collective Agreement,
  • Provide case management to people in support and facilitate the implementation of Individual Support Plans,
  • Build and maintain positive team-based culture across all CLSH supports and services,
  • Assist the Management Team with managing scheduling, additional hours and time off requests
  • Assist in the development of behavioural support plans,
  • Other duties as assigned

Other Requirements:

  • Valid Ontario G Driver's License or equivalent
  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR level C
  • Current Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification
  • Supervisory work-related references

Job Details:

Full time position, 40 hours/week, flexible hours including weekends and rotational on call duties
